Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Hyde Trading Co. authentication and resale platform (the "Service"). By creating an account, submitting an item, or accepting an offer, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By submitting an item, you represent that you are the rightful owner, possess the legal right to sell it, and have not pledged it as collateral or otherwise encumbered it. Hyde Trading Co. reserves the right to decline any submission at our sole discretion.
2. Authentication Process
All items undergo a multi-factor authentication process consisting of automated AI pre-screening, in-house specialist evaluation, and physical inspection upon receipt. The AI pre-screening is an initial triage step and is not a final determination of authenticity. Final authentication decisions are made by our in-house specialists and are binding.
If we determine an item to be counterfeit, replica, altered, or otherwise inauthentic, the item will be returned to you at your expense, and no offer will be paid. Repeated submissions of inauthentic items may result in suspension or termination of your account.
3. Offers
Offers are calculated based on the current resale market for your specific item, factoring in brand, model, condition, completeness, and demand. Offers are valid for 72 hours from the time of issuance unless otherwise stated. We may revise an offer if, upon physical inspection, the item differs materially from the photographs and details you submitted.
You are under no obligation to accept any offer. If you decline, your item will not be shipped to us, and no further action is required from you.
4. Shipping and Risk of Loss
Upon offer acceptance, we will provide you with a prepaid shipping label. You are responsible for packaging the item securely and shipping it within 7 business days of receiving the label. Risk of loss transfers to Hyde Trading Co. upon the carrier's confirmed pickup of the package. We are not responsible for items damaged due to inadequate packaging.
5. Payment
Accepted offers are paid via PayPal to the email address associated with your verified PayPal account. Payment is initiated within 1 to 2 business days following successful authentication. Hyde Trading Co. is not liable for delays caused by payment processors, banking systems, or incorrect PayPal information you have provided.
6. Returns
If an item fails authentication, we will return it to you at your expense via the address on file. You will be notified by email when the return is shipped. Hyde Trading Co. is not liable for returned items damaged in transit beyond the limits of the carrier's liability coverage.
If you fail to provide a valid return address, or if multiple delivery attempts fail, the item may be considered abandoned after 60 days, after which we have no further obligation.
7. Prohibited Conduct
You may not submit items that are counterfeit, stolen, subject to a recall, or otherwise restricted from sale by law. You may not use the Service to launder funds, evade taxes, or misrepresent the identity of the item or seller. Violation of this section may result in immediate account termination and reporting to relevant authorities.
8. Account Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion, with or without notice, for violations of these Terms, the Authenticity Policy, or applicable law. You may close your account at any time by contacting support. Pending submissions or offers may be cancelled upon termination.
9. Intellectual Property
You grant Hyde Trading Co. a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the photographs and descriptions you submit for the purposes of authentication, listing, and marketing the item, including post-sale display in our catalog. We do not sell or transfer your photographs or personal data to third parties for unrelated purposes.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding the uninterrupted operation of the Service, the accuracy of AI pre-screening, or the resale value of your item. Authentication outcomes are based on the professional judgment of our specialists.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hyde Trading Co.'s total liability arising from or related to your use of the Service is limited to the offer amount paid (or payable) for the item in question. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, loss of business opportunity, or emotional distress.
12. Disputes
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service must first be raised by contacting support and providing relevant details. We will work in good faith to resolve disputes within 30 days. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally will be governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version and effective date shown at the top of this document indicate the currently active version. Material changes will be communicated to active account holders by email at least 14 days before they take effect.

Hyde Trading Co. ("we," "us," "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you register an account we collect your name, email address, and a password (stored hashed). You may also choose to provide a phone number, mailing addresses (billing and shipping), and a PayPal email for payouts.
Submission Information
When you submit an item for authentication we collect photos of the item, a description, condition disclosures, brand and model details, and your asking price. We retain these as part of the submission record even after disposition.
Communications
If you contact our support team or use the in-platform AI assistant, we retain transcripts and metadata to assist with your inquiry and improve the Service.
Payment and Shipping Information
We collect information necessary to send payouts and ship items, including your PayPal email and full mailing address. We do not store full credit-card or bank-account numbers; PayPal handles payment-method storage.
Technical Information
We automatically collect technical information including your IP address, browser type, device identifier, pages viewed, and timestamps. We may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service. See "Cookies" below.
Information from Third Parties
We may receive information from third-party services we integrate with (PayPal, shipping carriers, authentication-service providers, fraud-prevention vendors).
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service;
- Authenticate items, process transactions, and issue payouts;
- Communicate with you about your account, submissions, and offers (transactional emails and, if you opt in, SMS);
- Provide customer support;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
- Comply with legal obligations including tax reporting and law-enforcement requests;
- Enforce our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.
3. How We Share Information
We share information with:
Service Providers
We work with vendors who help us operate the Service, including:
- PayPal, Inc. — payment processing and payouts
- Twilio Inc. — SMS messaging
- Shippo Inc. — shipping label generation and tracking
- Anthropic, PBC — AI-assisted analysis (we send item photos and descriptions; we do not send your account-identifying personal information)
- DreamHost LLC (or successor hosting provider) — server hosting
- Authentication-service partners and fraud-prevention vendors
Each vendor is contractually limited to using your information for the purpose of providing services to us.
Legal and Safety
We may disclose information when required by law, including in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process; to enforce our agreements; to protect the safety of our users or the public; or in connection with investigation of suspected fraud or counterfeit goods.
Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such transfer.
With Your Consent
We may share information for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection or with your subsequent consent.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, secure the Service, and understand usage patterns. You can disable cookies in your browser, though parts of the Service may not function correctly without them. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals.
5. Data Retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period after closure to comply with legal, tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations. We retain submission records (including photos) for at least seven (7) years for fraud-investigation and tax purposes. Transactional logs are retained as required by applicable law and our internal compliance policies.
6. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no security measure is perfect. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
7. Your Rights
Account Controls
You can update most account information directly in your account settings, including your name, address, password, PayPal email, and SMS preferences.
Closing Your Account
You may close your account at any time from your account settings. Closing your account does not delete information we are required to retain by law.
Communications Preferences
Transactional communications (such as offer notifications and payout confirmations) are essential to the Service and cannot be unsubscribed from while you have an active account. You can opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP or via your account settings.
8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act give you the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you in the past twelve (12) months;
- Request deletion of personal information we have collected, subject to legal exceptions (we may not be able to delete information required to maintain transaction records or detect fraud);
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (we do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising);
- Limit use of sensitive personal information;
- Non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

9. Children
The Service is not intended for and may not be used by anyone under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact [email protected] and we will promptly delete it.
10. International Users
The Service is operated from the United States and is intended for U.S. users. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you consent to the transfer of your information to the U.S., where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
11. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party sites and services we do not control. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties. Review their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you by email or through the Service. The "Effective" date at the top tells you when the current version took effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
